Webkinz in the House

I finally broke down a few weeks ago & bought the girls Webkinz. They had been playing Club Penguin all summer & were driving me nuts for a membership which I refuse to pay! I thought the Webkinz were a decent deal since you did get a physical stuffed animal. I ended up getting the Koala for Aly & the Pink Pony for Cam. I bought them for Amazon. I had won a $5 Gc from Blingo, so I only ended up paying $15 for both, not bad! They having been playing it non-stop in between school & dance, lol. That is a big reason why I wanted to wait till after the nice Summer weather was over. It is really cute, but addicting. Cam has been building a Ballerina Bedroom & a School. Aly started with the ballerina bedroom, but sold it all & is now building that Funky girl bedroom & I think a school also. Very cute! If your kids are interested in the, Amazon seems to have some decent deals, you have to look though because some are on the high end. Hallmark also sells them, ours charges $13 or 13.99 for the Webkinz & $9.99 for the Lil kinz. They offer tons of cute accessories too. This should make stockings easy this year :) Keep reading for some great links on Webkinz products that I have found on the web. Oh be careful, some sites & ebay the prices are getting outrageous. I will only buy the items in a normal price range. I have seen some go for $35 - $100, CRAZY!

File Sharing with Driveway

Do you ever want to share files online? I know a lot of digital scrapbookers do this a lot. It is hard finding the service that best suits your needs. Driveway has a great file sharing service. It seems that they have a lot of great features and are easy to use. The thing I like the best is that you can upload files or folders up to 500mb each, plus they give 2GB free storage. You can use Driveway to enhance your gmail, yahoo, hotmail & even blogs. They have several different features to make sharing super easy: Desktop Widget, Driveway Plug-in & Web Widget. Signing up is very easy. Just click sign up on the homepage, tell them your email & password & that is it. Then you just download the plug in. You can also earn 10GB free storage by referring your friends. How cool is that?

You can also use Driveway without registering. When you do sign up though, you get the 2GB's free storage plus each file uploaded comes with a unique url. This is great for bloggers! I am really happy that I found out about this site, I will be using it quite a bit!

If you have ever tried sending files via email then I'm sure you have been just as frustrated as I have. There are limits, it is slow & they don't always go through. I think this is the perfect solution for that.

Fall TV shows

I love my prime time tv shows & am excited that they are all starting this week. Aly's dance has a lot of late nights, so I'm hoping that I can find my missed 8 o'clock shows online. Monday is one of our early night (7:15) & I usually don't care much for Monday tv. NBC really came through yesterday! I loved Chuck, Heroes was amazing & Journeyman was very interesting. Great job NBC, they will be rivaling some of my CBS favorites this year!

Tonight is Bones & House. I cannot wait for Bones, this is one of my favorite shows. I have been reading Kathy Reichs for awhile now & was so excited when this show came out. I have been really happy with the tv version vs. the book. I was always wondering when some of the books I read would come out on tv since special effects are so advanced now. I'm also excited to see James Patterson Women's Murder Club on ABC. I have to check the date though, I honestly haven't seen any publicity for it. I found out about it a few months ago because I get Patterson's emails. I hope it is as good as the book & make it with the competition!

Tonight is a hard choice though because Eureka is still on at 9 on Sci-fi. I will be watching that instead of House. Sorry House but I can't miss my Eureka!

Wednesday is a late night, she doesn't get done until 8:45. I will have to rush home to catch Criminal Minds at 9pm on CBS. This is another one of my top favorites. I wanted to be a profiler, so I just LOVE this show. I'm bummed about Mandy leaving, I hope the replacement makes the show as good. I believe tonights episode is one that was cut from last season because it mirrored the Virgina tech murders. I'm glad we get to see it especially since Mandy left, he was favorite character!

Thursday is another 8 o'clock night, I'm not sure what to do because I love Smallville on CW but I don't believe I can see those online. I'm going to be going through some Smallville withdraws, ugh! I will be home in time for CSI & Without a trace though.

Friday is a day off, so I can watch my shows. I really like Ghost Whisperer a lot, so am excited about that. I also like Numbers but it is one I don't mind if I miss. Usually by Friday I'm exhausted, so I go to bed at10, lol. The 9 slot is a new one & I'm not sure I have any interest in it. I guess I will give it a go unless I can find something else.

Saturday is nothing, I wish something could be on either local or cable. Sunday works good this year because my show is Desperate Housewives at 9. It was so hard when Charmed was on at 8 because that is the night we get ready for school & do bath/showers. I sure miss Charmed though! I also will be missing Crossing Jordan, I can't believe it is gone :(

Wearing slippers in public, is it ok 4 Kids?

My oldest daughter always wants to wear her slippers outside. I don't let her, I think that defeats the purpose of not wearing shoes in the house, lol.

I think the issue started a few years ago when she started seeing the "older" girls (you know the 11 year olds) coming into dance in pajama pants & slippers. She has been fighting me ever since. Thankfully she doesn't bother me when we are actually going out like to a store, etc. It is mainly at home & dance. What do you think, I'd love some opinions on it. Come on de-lurk & tell what you think.

So far, the only time I allow it is during recitals.

Book Review ~ Grave Sight

I finally finished my first selection for the RIP II Challenge. I had planned on starting it sooner, but I had checked out another 2 book series & the 2nd book was due back sooner then all the rest. I had to hurry & read the first, so I could get the 2nd one back in time :) BTW, it was the Maggie Mars series & it was SO good.

Anyways, back to my first selection for the RIP II Challenge, it was another great book! I read was Grave Sight (Harper Connelly Mysteries, No. 1). I am not very good at reviews to be honest. I really loved this book though. I am so glad I found this challenge & came across this book. I probably would have never read it before this challenge.

I just loved the character Harper & her brother Tolliver. This book was very easy to read, I didn't want to put it down. The main character Harper was struck by lightning as a kid. This somehow made her be able to find dead bodies & know how they were killed. It is a very interesting idea & something I have never read before. In the first book of this series, Harper & her brother travel to Arkansas to find the body of a missing teenage girl. They find the body quickly, but end up having problems that prevent them from moving on to their next cases. When Harper's life is threatened and Tolliver ends up in jail on trumped-up charges, it quickly becomes apparent that something sinister is going on in Sarne.

The book has a great plot. Very interesting characters. I really like Harper's attitude. I can't wait to read the rest of the series! Amazon has some excellent reviews of the book there. I plan on reading everything by Charlaine Harris & am so happy to find a new woman author to read.
