Getting ready for kindergarten

If you have a pre-school age child, you really want to start getting them ready for kindergarten sooner then later. With my oldest daughter, when we went to the kindergarten orientation, we were told "Oh she just needs to know how to write her name." I thought oh this is going to be great, she could write her name, knew her alphabet, was able to hold great conversations and much more. Boy were we surprised when we got our list home on everything kindergartens need to know now. When I was in Kindergarten, it was more social then learning. Now pre-school is social, and kindergarten is more comparable to 1st grade.

My daughter unfortunately struggled through kindergarten. We didn't have a very good teacher, so we hoped that was the reason. She ended up struggling in 1st as well. She never struggled enough to qualify for any help, so it was up to us to help her along.

Now I am an advocate for parents to start teaching preschool children early. There are many great programs out there. Funetics is one program, they use phonics to build a strong foundation for reading. They are so sure that you will be happy with the service, that there is a full guarantee. You can also
