Exploring in Michigan ~ Blog Trip Day 5

There really isn't anything within walking distance of me, but we have tons of great places to go that are within a half hour drive.

My favorite place that is closest to me would be the New Baltimore Beach. It is a nice little area (and I do mean little) with a nice park, eating area, etc. Plus it is totally free unlike Metro Beach & Stoney Creek. They are a lot nicer, but a long drive & you have to pay parking, so the little beach is working for us during this crappy Michigan Economy!

Another place I love is downtown Mt. Clemens. It is one of the only downtown areas in our county. I love it because it is like a mini city. I used to go there all the time for my photography classes.

I've been trying to get down there with my camera to walk around to get some more pictures. They have tons of unique buildings, a beautiful gazebo, shops, restaurants and bars.

I was going to do my Wedding pictures at this gazebo, but I ended up getting sick & I was actually in a coma on my wedding day. We pushed the wedding 2 or 3 weeks & the new day didn't have enough time for the Gazebo pictures. Isn't it pretty.

If you want to head down a bit farther from me, there are tons of great places to go to in Detroit. One of my favorites is the Detroit Institute of Art. It is one of my favorite places, I always used to ask to visit there. I haven't been in awhile. Currently our library offers free passes that is about to expire soon. Now that my hubby is back to a steady job, maybe there is a chance I can go. I really miss seeing that beautiful artwork.

Another place my girls love is the Detroit Science Center.

Of course for us adults, we have a lot of nice casinos. I'm not a gambler, but we did check out Greektown the last time we went to an Eminem concert at Comerica Park. Parking was costing $30 - 50 at the concert, so we parked for free at the casino & did a tiny bit of gambling. My grandma loves Motor City, I've wanted to check it out but haven't made it down yet. If you are planning a visit to the Detroit area you can find out about other attractions to visit here.
