Collapsed Lung & Rasheed Wallace

Cami came home from school on Friday saying she got sick in gym. She said during a game she got knocked in the chest & hit in the head. Then she said that made her sick. She was having asthma symptoms, and she was mainly complaining about her head, so I didn't think much of it. I figured it was just the time of year for colds/flu, etc.

Then Saturday she laid down most of the day. Even when she is super sick, she never just lays around. That night her breathing got really bad, I was doing treatments every couple hours with little help. On Sunday I took her to the hospital. After about 6 hours & crappy experience we found out that she had a collapsed left lung. She had to be taken to Children's hospital by Ambulance.

She was freaked at first, but I told her it would be fun & cool. She pretty much enjoyed it, just was very tired. It was almost midnight by then. Now she is staying at the hospital, it is very nice. Today the Detroit Pistons were coming to visit. Rasheed Wallace came to visit her. He gave her a red teddy bear with a pistons bib on it, a t-shirt that he autographed, a paper he autographed. He took a picture & autographed it. Then he gave her a Cinderella polly pocket type doll with a tea pot set that is for the girls & flips for the little dolls. It was so nice, really made her day!

She is being so spoiled there. The gave her some crafts to do, they gave her a cute Hannah Montana book, the one with the secret pen & pages to keep. It is very nice.

She is doing very well, however her breathing doesn't seem to be getting better in my opinion. When the oxygen is on, she is at 100%. It really hurts her ears though, so if she pulls it down, it is immediately down to 95%. If we let her keep it around her neck for a few minutes, it goes down to 92%. They are doing more chest x-rays tomorrow, she may need to have surgery.

If I'm not around, that is why. Hopefully she will recover on her own & can come home soon without surgery.

I hope that she feels better soon and is able to come home. On the upside - meeting Rasheed Wallace? *swoon*

Christmas season is the best time to be in the hospital, there is always special treatment. I remember being hospitalized at this time of year and the carolers came around to sing for us. It was fun- well as much fun as being in the hospital can be.
