Review ~ This is ME Kid's First Keepsake Journal

I received one of my favorite products so far recently. It is called This is Me, A Kid's First Keepsake Journal. Being a scrapbooker, this product totally called to me. I love when my kids scrapbook, but to be honest it can be very difficult. They love the decorating part, but hardly ever do any kind of journaling. Trying to keep up with 2 kids, can also be hard to do. In comes the Kids Keepsake Journal.

The journal is 8 1/2" x 8" and has 96 pages. It is wire bound, so it does lay flat to make it easy for kids to draw and write in. It is made from #80 Cougar opaque archival paper which is keepsake quality. You can find a detailed list of the pages here.

I gave the journal to my six year old to work on. There is a lot of drawing involved, so I figured my 10 year wouldn't be interested. I have to admit I was wrong, and she was pretty ticked at me for only giving one to her sister. My daughter has been having such a blast using this. There are tons of places for drawings, her favorite so far is the page on hair. There are 4 heads, your kids get to draw there hair When I wake up, after it gets brushed, when it is fancy and in my dreams. The drawings are priceless. Cam drew when it is fancy in a blond bun with a pink ribbon around it. My favorite is in my dreams though, she drew long blond hair with pink highlights.

The books are geared to be filled up in one year. They recommend starting a book each year either on your child's birthday or a school year etc. It of course isn't a must though, you can start the books anytime. Then after each year, start a new book. I really can't stress how priceless these books will become. I know that to many, scrapbooking can be a daunting task. This is a great way to still capture some of those memories, thoughts, glimpses into your childs mind. With the questions already there, it is easy to just fill in the answers. With the artwork, you child can be free to express themselves.

With the book being under 9", they are easy to store as well!

The website, has a fun gallery for kids self portraits as well. You can send in a scan of your childs self portrait for a chance to win a This is Me journal each month!

The recommended age for the book is 3-8. Another bonus, they are printed in the USA! If you are interested in purchasing a book, they are $20 and can be bought here.

Summer Memories of the Water

PBN and Huggies® Little Swimmers® disposable swim pants have teamed up and are asking bloggers to reminisce about our family summer adventures - especially those in the water!

I have to be totally honest, most of my favorite summer memories are in the water. When we were little, we used to go to my grandma & grandpa's all the time because they had a pool. My mom would take my brother & I, my aunt would take my 2 cousins. We used to have so much fun swimming. The thing my cousin & I liked the best of course was jumping in. That was a huge no-no, so anytime our grandparents were looking away we did it. We used to get into so much trouble, lol. After swimming, we would walk up to Bunzo's for popsicles or ice cream. Most of the time, we were allowed to go alone, so we felt so grown up.

Of my most recent summer memories, that would be between the Beach & our Pool. The beach has to be one of my favorite places to be at. My husband constantly talks about moving out of Michigan. My one request is there has to be a beach in driving distance! Trust me our Michigan beaches aren't the greatest, but I love them just the same. Have to have a beach! With gas prices so high, I am finding that I am loving our memories from our own pool now just as much. The girls just love swimming. I love watching them learn new things, get more daring. My youngest was petrified of the pool just two summer agos. She was on a whale blow up & it flipped upside down. Now this happened in the split second that me, hubby & even my father happened to all be looking at my oldest throwing a ball. My husband realized she was flipped & flipped her back. She was just traumatized so badly by it. I was surprised she held on the whole time, if she wouldn't have, she probably would have floated right up. Anyways, last summer she got right into the pool & started practicing going under. We were so proud of how much she accomplished just from one year. I can't wait to see what she does this year!

Thyroid Doctor Update

Today I had my doctor checkup for my thyroid. My nuclear scans come out that I am hyperthyroid, but my blood work comes out normal. My doctor feels that everything is wrong except the blood work. I also have a nodule that has been steadily growing since we found it January 2005. About 3 months ago, I went in for a biopsy & thankfully it came out fine. My doctor put me on Synthroid to try & stop the growth.

Ok so my checkup, I'm told that now my blood does show that I am hyperthyroid, so I need to cut down my synthroid & go back in 4 months. Now that explains why my heart has been beating so fast, I've been super anxious, etc. I was actually considering go to my regular doctor to see what meds they could give me for stress. I have never wanted anything like that, so the fact that I even considered it tells me something. I think I'm going to skip my lower dose tomorrow to see if that helps me feel any better.

On top of that, I got some crazy itchy rash under my arms a few days ago. Went to the doctor for that yesterday am on steroids, creams, 2 kinds of allergy pills, ugh! The doctor wanted to give me a shot, but I opted for the pills. He told me it wouldn't be as fast, but I figured I'd already been itchy & in pain for days, why not a few more. I hate shots! I've actually already seen improvement, so glad I went the pain free route, lol. I'm also supposed to not use deodorant or shave for a week, but I'm going to take my chances on that one. I'm just one of those women that need a daily shower, daily shave, deodorant & make up. I have never been one of those moms that skipped showers, etc because I had kids. Nothing wrong with it at all, don't get me wrong. I just can't do it.

Weekend Snapshot ~ Baby Birds

I still have to sort through all my dance pictures from the girls dance rehearsal. I took 3gb worth of pictures & videos :) I was bummed because I ran out of space before the day was over. We ended up being there from 10am to 10:30 pm. My poor six year old fell asleep slide stage waiting to go for Hairspray. She missed her first song & everything. My 10 year old brought her out to me. I gave her some fruit snacks, pretzels & water. Then I bribed her with a Lil Kinz Yorkie to go back & actually practice her lines. She doesn't have lines till the end of the 2nd act, so she had plenty of time to sit on my lap & rest.

So, my weekend snapshot is of some new baby birds we found outside our tree last night. My kids were so excited. I couldn't get a good picture, I'm hoping to try again later on. The girls got to see the mama feed the babies, so they were thrilled. This will officially be the first thing to go in their Nature Notebooks!

James Allen for Engangement Rings

When I got married almost 11 years ago, we didn't have the money to buy a nice engagement ring. We bought a pretty set, but it wasn't what I was really looking for. Now I tend to just wear a plain wedding band. We have always said though, that we will update my set, and get me the ring that I have always wanted. Every once in awhile I will catch a site with pretty sets, and I recently came across James Allen. They are professional jewelers that have a beautiful selection of diamond rings. What I really love about the site is the 3-d view of the rings. Have you ever purchased a ring online, then receiving it not like it because of the side profile? I have, and this feature eliminates that worry.

James Allen has an advanced diamond search that helps you find the perfect diamond. Select stone type, ring setting, and so much more. They even have pictures of real diamonds, 15,000 actual diamond photographs. You can also view 3-d views of the rings on hands.

The site is hacker safe, they are a member of the BBB & even have a profile on iVouch. James Allen is very easy to navigate around. The categories are set up very well. The sell a huge selection of diamonds, rings, even other fine jewelry. Go check them out, well worth the visit.
