Dream Baby CD

The Dream Baby CD is being considered the perfect new "must have" relaxation product for babies. It is making parent’s lives easier and babies happier. Merry Miller has been a professional harpist for over 20 years. The Dream Baby cd was born when many of Merry's friends were having babies. Nothing would calm them, so she recorded a baby song on the harp. It became so popular with friends, that Merry created a full length cd.

You can download The Itsy Bitsy spider right now. I downloaded it, and I have to say it is beautiful. The cd sells for $12 + shipping.

Great Summer Tips brought to you by MommyDocs

When I was asked to participate in a blog tour from Mom Central, I was more then willing to say yes to these important safety issues. Mom Central has teamed up with Clorox and MommyDocs to get the word out on Summer Safety.

MommyDocs is a site ran by 2 Moms, that are 2 doctors with 2 husbands, 4 kids and 2 dogs. I love that the site is written by Doctors that are also Moms. It is a wealth of information. They have a blog, articles, podcasts, Q & A, and more.

With the longer summer days, nice weather & kids playing outside. Safety is more important then ever. Along with all the summer fun, there are also issues to think about including the Sun, Bugs and Hydration.

Five Summer safety tips for the summer (pdf version) from MommyDocs and Clorox
  • Have a Sun Protection Strategy: The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends sunscreen with a minimum Sun Protection Factor (SPF) of 15. Look for products that provide "broad spectrum" coverage to protect against both UVA and UVB rays. Use this sunscreen routine with your child--daily application 30 minutes before going outside and reapplication every 2 hours (or sooner if swimming, toweling off, or sweating). Creating a routine will establish good habits for the future. In addition, don't forget a wide brim hat, sunglasses with 99-100% UVA/UVB protection, and sun protective clothing.
  • Keep Pests off Your Little One: In the summer, many insects can bite or sting your child. For pesky mosquitoes and ticks, consider a DEET containing insect repellant. Apply sparingly to exposed skin (avoid backs of hands and around the eyes and mouth) and/or to clothing once a day. As the percentage of DEET goes up, the duration of action increases. To prevent unnecessary exposure, always use the lowest percentage that will last for the planned length of time spent outdoors. Never go above 30% or use on children under 2 months old.
  • Keep the Pool Cool and Clean: Small yard pools provide a great way for kids to have fun and cool down when the temperature rises, but they can also harbor germs, such as bacteria. To keep the pool free from unwanted "swimmers," after each use disinfect it with bleach by cleaning with a solution of ¾ cup regular bleach to one gallon of water, then rinse well and dry thoroughly. Safety must: Always supervise children regardless of age when they are around any water; whether it's a bucket, a small backyard plastic pool, or the local community pool.
  • High Heat Means Hydrate: Excessive heat exposure may cause your child to experience a heat-related illness such as heat cramps, heat exhaustion, or even heat stroke. How to prevent this: take breaks in the shade, avoid playing outside during peak sun exposure hours, and drink, drink, drink! Make sure your child is taking in plenty of fluids before he become thirsty.
  • Rid Rashes and Relieve Itchies: Running through the yard in bare feet, taking a nature walk on a trail, and picnicing in the park are some of the joys of warmer weather. But all of this outdoor activity can expose your child to a host of plants including those which cause poison ivy, poison oak or poison sumac. If an allergic reaction occurs, ask the pediatrician about an oral antihistamine and/or a topical skin care product such as a steroid cream or calamine. If the rash is extensive, looks infected, or is not getting better, call your doctor right away.

Happy Birthday Grandma

Today is my Grandma's Birthday, it is also the 5 year anniversary of her death. Isn't that strange to be born and die on the same day?

My grandmother was born in 1935 in Ireland. When she was around 15, she moved to England to work. She met my grandfather and got married. After several pregnancy complications, my mom was born. They moved to New York in the late 50's to make a better life for themselves.

They then relocated to Detroit to work in the car industry. We have been in Michigan ever since.

My grandmother died way before her time. She lived a hard life. Everyone misses her greatly!

Blowfish Malibu ~ Trendy New Shoe Company

I just came across a hot new shoe company called Blowfish Malibu. The shoes are from famous brands like Esprit, Sam & Libby, Rocket Dog, David Aaron and Aerosoles. The company has a nice selection of casual, sandals and boots.

Blowfish Shoes are already popular in Europe and Australian. Now women in American are starting to flock to them. Blowfish Women's shoes are hip and trendy with a style you can't beat. Put that in combination with great price and you can't go wrong.

I really like the Gold Stella skimmer, the Hotrocks thong with venetian glass beads and the super cute pair of Coastline boots! Now if only they had Blowfish Men's Shoes.

Blowfish shoes are sold at many retailers, including Macy's, DSW, Planetshoes.com, Delia's and more.

Mia Reading: The Bugaboo Bugs! Review & Giveaway

When I was contacted to review Mia Reading: The Bugaboo Bugs software I was very excited. Especially now that it is summer and the kids aren't in school. This software is geared towards ages 5 to 9 (grades K - 3). My 6 year old, almost 7 year old daughter is the one that got to test out this great computer game.

She was very excited, she instantly fell in love with the adorable Mia. You have the choice of playing the game or just doing the 12 educational activities. My daughter first played through the game, then she just picked activities. She actually preferred just doing the activities. There are 4 age appropriate levels to the game, so it spans quite a bit.

The game has great 3d graphics in HD. Mia lives in a charming Victorian house that is invaded by pests. If the humans see the bugs, the exterminators will be called. Then Mia & her family will be without a house. Mia has to stop the Bugaboo bugs! It is a really cute and fun story. One thing I like is that Mia is a separate character, she isn't from a movie or a cartoon. She is something new and fresh.

The software is made by Kutoka. There are other Mia adventures including games for Reading, Language Science & Math. A software title that my daughter really wants is the Click and Create with Mia. They also make other items including the Winx club toys. My daughters and I love Winx :)

If you are looking for great educational software for ages 5 to 9, I highly recommend Mia Reading: The Bugaboo Bugs! It is tons of fun for both boys and girls.

Want it: Mia Reading: The Bugaboo Bugs! retails for $24.99. You can purchase at Toys R Us and Amazon to name a few.

Win It: Kutoka has graciously offered to give one Mom of 2 Dancers reader their very own copy of Mia Reading: The Bugaboo Bugs!
