Moderating Comments

Well I guess I hit the big time because the Spam has been quite frequent lately. I turned the comments to moderated for the time being. If you don't see your comment, give me some time to approve it.

We'll try that for awhile & see how it works out.

Thanks!

My baby girl turns 7 today!

I cannot believe that my youngest, my little baby is now 7 years old! It just blows my mind, seriously. When my oldest turned 7, I thought of her as so old. Probably because I had a little one running around going through terrible twos, lol. My baby came 5 weeks early, weighing in at 7lbs5oz. If I would have went full term, I seriously think I would have died during labor, lol.

My baby will be starting 2nd grade this year. She will be going on her 5th year of dancing. She is an excellent reader and good at math. Her fav subjects are Spanish, Art, Music & Gym. She is super creative in both art & play. Loves Webkinz & anything Virtual. Love Mac & Cheese, Pizza & McDonalds. Finally learned how to ride a bike without training wheels, getting good at roller skating. Loves to go in the pool.

Happy Birthday Baby Girl!

It is my Mom's bday today as well. Happy Birthday Mom :)

My Blogger Wish List

Blogger Buster Competition Announcement

Blogger Buster is having a fun contest. They are asking us what are blogger wish list is. Now I love blogger. I have tried several other free blog platforms and just prefer blogger.

However, I do have a few items for my wishlist!

  • My biggest wish is that we have an option of where to put the pictures. I hate that they automatically go to the top. I want to be able to point my mouse, hit the picture button & have my picture go in that spot of my post.
  • I'd love to have the option of either creating the draft or post dating my post & having it show up early.
  • I'd also love to be able to have static pages.
  • Last but not least, I wish the comments were NUMBERED! This helps so much with contests :)
Thanks for the fun contest, go check it out as well if you use blogger!

Great links around the web

Today marks the 150th anniversary of Natural Selection. I always get chills reading about Darwin and Wallace and their amazing discoveries!

Did you hear about the elementary school that got locked down when a Ninja was spotted in the woods?

Learn how to backup your blog on blogger.

Read about continuing education through the summer. How to choose a safe password and some fun ways to have fun in the Water without a pool.

Did you know that the US Ranks #16 as the happiest country.

Learn all about Foof, it is a firefox plug in that
eliminates all ads and lets you replace up to two of the ads with content that is related to the page you're viewing.

Planning a birthday party, check out the Precious Party package.

Today is July 1st and that means it is time to log your Cheeky Monkey into Webkinz.

The Strawberry ~ Summer Staple

There are a lot of things I look forward to in the summer. One of those things is Strawberries! I have to admit, my favorite way to eat them is dipping them in sugar. Yes, I know, terrible! Another favorite way to eat them is sliced and mixed with sliced bananas, yum!
Did you know that California provides 88% of the nation's strawberries. With over 35,000 acres of fields across California, the growers will be picking nearly
6 million crates of delicious, ripe strawberries this week to deliver to grocery stores nationwide.
Fun strawberry facts to share with your kids:
  • If you lined up all of the strawberries grown in California in one straight line, they would wrap around the entire Earth 15 times.
  • Guessing game! There are about 200 seeds on the outside of each strawberry.
  • California harvests over a billion pounds of strawberries annually.
  • One acre of land (about the size of one football field) grows about 50,000 pounds of strawberries - that's the same weight as 4 elephants!
For us moms, it's worth knowing:
  • Strawberries contain powerful antioxidants and rank second among the top ten fruits in antioxidant capacity: one serving of strawberries contains more Vitamin C than an orange.
  • Strawberries may help reduce the risk of heart disease, fight some types of cancer and lower blood pressure. Not bad for a little red berry!
  • Don't forget! The antioxidants in strawberries also aid in memory performance and may help prevent Alzheimer's disease by reducing oxidative stress and inflammation, two key factors that can cause age-related diminished brain function.
  • Strawberries are a natural superfood that may lower blood pressure, improve memory and heart health, and reduce some risks of cancer.

Hundreds of strawberry recipes can be found here. My favorite drinks is a Frosty Strawberry Daiquri. They have a great search feature that lets you find recipes by type of food. Under healthy choices I found Frosty Strawberry pops which I plan on making this week!

Visit Strawberryville, an online destination for kids full of interactive games, activities and kid-friendly recipes! Kids age 5 - 7 can play in the Garden, Kids age 6 - 12 can play in the Clubhouse. Both my girls have a lot of fun playing at Strawberryville.

This Blog makes me laugh

This blog makes me laugh so hard. I was behind on reading in bloglines, so I was scrolling through tons of posts. I was literally laughing out load. My 6 year old kept asking me what I was laughing about, I didn't feel like trying to explain each detail to her. She is the type that will ask ? after ? & it gets a tad annoying. All of a sudden she yells, "You FAIL mom". It was pretty funny :)

Anyways for a good laugh check out that blog.
