Obama chose Biden, what do you think?

I was a Hillary supporter, I am not a fan of Obama. I honestly didn't know how I was going to make myself vote for him. His vice-president candidate was really my decision maker and I have been waiting for this to be announced. It has been driving me crazy because I am majorly stressed over this election. I do not like Obama & I definitely do not like McCain. When Biden was announced, I was pretty happy. I can fully support this ticket now & I will be voting for Obama! What are your thoughts, you happy with the announcement? Please no fighting though. Make sure to keep reading, if you are a supporter, you can get a free Obama/Biden sticker, link at the bottom!

Vusion ointment for Severe diaper rash

Diaper rash is one thing I definitely do not miss when it comes to my kids growing up and getting older. I do not miss the diaper changes, or the surprises you find when you pull that diaper off. The guilt of finding a rash, could I have done anything to prevent this to my poor little baby? Nope don't miss it at all.

Since I know many of my readers still have babies in diapers, when Mom Central sent an email about getting the word out about a new treatment for severe diaper rash, I happily accepted. Especially when I read that we moms should stop feeling guilty. Almost all babies get it at some point.

With my first daughter, she had to stay in the hospital for a few days because she was 6 weeks early. When I was finally able to bring her home, she ended up getting a terrible diaper rash. I had to take her to the doctor and they gave me a compound to use on her. Even though I didn't blame myself, I felt so bad for my poor baby. I was lucky enough that neither of my girls got them that often, but they both did get them. It is a terrible feeling, you just don't always know how to handle it.

Did you know that severe diaper rash can sometimes be the result of yeast coming into contact with irritated skin and becoming a yeast infection? Good news though, there is a new medication that helps this form of diaper rash called Vusion. This medication is by prescription only. It is a gentle ointment that can be used on babies as little as 4 weeks old. It is also the only drug approved by the FDA for this type of infection.

If you have a child still in diapers, check out Vusion's website. You can also print out a coupon for your next prescription of Vusion.

Green Works Dish Soap Review

Green Works is the first natural line of cleaning products produced by a major company. Through Mom Central and Clorox I was able to test out the brand new Green Works natural dishwashing liquid.

Using plant-based ingredients derived from coconuts and olive oil, the Green Works Dishwashing Liquid promises to cut through grease and loosen cooked-on food while being gentle on your dishes and cookware. As always with Green Works products, the product has not been tested on animals and is apparently both non-allergenic and biodegradable.

The first thing I did when I received my bother was check the ingredients list. Ever the skeptic that I am, lol. The ingredients include filtered water, coconut-based cleaning agents, corn-based ethanol, fragrance with essential oils, biodegradable preservative, citric acid, blue and yellow colorant. Contains no phosphorus or bleach.

I love the smell of this dish soap! It is the original scent, it reminds me of apples. Not sure if it is supposed to or I just assume apples from the coloring? Regardless it smells wonderful! Of course that isn't the most important thing, you are probably wondering does it work?

Well I can say, "Yes it does." It works awesome, it suds up really well. Everything that I washed was easy to clean. I am a total convert to this product. I would highly recommend the Clorox Green Works line of products. They are great for people that want to go Green, but don't have the time or the knowledge to make your own products.

You should also know, Green Works has joined with the Sierra Club in support of their efforts to conserve clean air, water, and wildlife, and all of their products carry the Sierra Club logo. Additionally, the EPA has recognized the dish soap for using environmentally preferred chemistry, with their logo also proudly displayed on the bottle. As it arrives nationwide this August, Green Works Dishwashing Liquid comes in five scents: Original, Water Lily, Tangerine, Free & Clear, and Simply Lemon.

Find out tips from Clorox on going "green".

Eco-friendly Office Supplies

On my quest to go greener, I have searching out companies that value the Environment. Companies that try to make an effort to be eco-friendly. Since I have a home based business, I spend a lot of time at my desk on my computer. It is important to me, to try and lower my carbon footprint. I found one online source, Super warehouse that is your one stop shop for all the home and business office needs with the best selection of Eco-Friendly Name Brand products. I am highly impressed with the large range of top name brands that have an emphasis on going greener and becoming more eco-friendly including Hewlett Packard, Canon and Apple.

I currently use a desktop computer. I have been trying really hard to save up for a laptop. Not only would be allow me to get more work done by being portable, but laptops are also more energy efficient! I love the company Apple, but I never really considered getting one of their laptops. Only because I am not familiar with them.
However, the Environmental Protection Agency has ranked Apple laptops as the most environmentally-friendly portable computers in its EPEAT (Electronic Product Environmental Assessment Tool), according to a recent New York Times article. This does make me consider getting a Mac. I've always wanted to try it, but like I said I'm not familiar with it. I know that most Mac users, would never go back to using anything else. Apple is also taking all existing MacBook and MacBook Pro notebooks and will shed their plastic covers for ones constructed from more eco-friendly materials. These materials include aircraft-grade aluminum and stainless steel. The new upcoming MacBook Pro will have design features borrowed from both the aluminum iMacs as well as the MacBook Air.

Did you know that Canon launched a Generation Green initiative this year? This initiative will combine the Company's latest environmentally-conscious PIXMA, SELPHY and imageCLASS printer products and solutions under one corporate brand name: Generation Green. As part of its Generation Green campaign, Canon has also announced the availability of NatureStone™ product packaging in select ink packs. NatureStone uses biodegradable limestone packaging, which reduces the need for paper and other raw materials, resulting in a 45 percent reduction in natural energy, 65 percent reduction in petroleum-based plastics and 50 percent reduction in emissions that impact global warming. Superwharehouse has a nice selection of color laser printers including Canon. Another option if you are in the market for a laser printer is the Brother laser printer.

HP is another company that is working on becoming more eco-friendly. They have recently began making their printers out of mainly recycled plastics to help reduce the companies carbon footprint. They are also working on energy efficiency of HP LaserJet and Inkjet printers 40 percent by 2011. The company previously reached a goal of 30 percent reduction set for 2005. Another goal that I love that they are working on is to make 100 percent of HP's consumer photo paper will derive from sustainable forest certified suppliers in 2009. I won't have to feel guilty if I print a photo from my HP scanner once they complete that goal!

Superwarehouse offers free shipping on orders over $299. The company was founded in 1997 by San Diego entrepreneur Russel Schnieder. Super Warehouse is known for providing expertise and guidance for customers to help determine the best technology solutions for their needs. With the large selection of name brand products from companies working on becoming eco-friendly make me want to buy all my home office technology from Super Warehouse.

Amazon goes GREEN

I'm sure I have mentioned before that I have been concerned about the Environment since being little. I remember mainly from middle school on. My projects were all animal or earth related, especially into high school when I started donating from my paychecks.

After having my daughter at 19, I admit I got bit on the lazy side. I quit donating money just because with a child, we literally had nothing left over to donate. I still kept on donating items to charities though, I've always believed in that. We rented for quite awhile, so I did get stuck in the trap of not caring about how much water I used, since hey it was free. I really don't know why I got like that because I remember even as a child I used to turn off the water while brushing and all that good stuff they taught at school.

Anyways, I have been pleased that it is becoming something we talk about now, and only my dad still calls me a tree hugger, lol. I was excited when I saw that Amazon is going green. Amazon is one of my favorite places to shop, next to ebay of course!

I love the Reusable Grocery Tote Bag 5 Pack Combo. That is my favorite shape bag for grocery shopping. I prefer the flat bottom, the handles are easy to hold & I can fit so much more in just one of these vs. one plastic bag! You can even buy a package of the Preserve Toothbrush now!

If you buy green products, consider checking out Amazon the next time you need something. Save yourself some gas as well!

Review ~ Nana Star

We received both the first book Nana Star and the second book Nana Star and the Moonman recently. My daughters were so excited. I thought this set was going to be just for my 7 year old, but my 10 year old snatched up the Moonman :)

Elizabeth Owens is the creator of Nana Star and, to those who know and love her, she is the real Nana Star. Born February 1, 1924 in Baltimore, Maryland, Elizabeth has three children, five grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. Please take a moment to read all about Elizabeth and how the Nana Star book series came about.

There are currently two books in the series, with more coming out. The first book you get to meet Nana Star®. Join this little girl's magical adventures as she promises to bring a lost baby star home where he belongs. It won't be easy–he lives high up in the heavens. With this book you can also get the Nana Star Posable Doll. The world of Nana Star brought to huggable, snuggable, lovable life!

Cami, my newly turned 7 year old just adores the Nana Star doll. She has been taking her everywhere with her. She is so soft and cuddly she easily goes everywhere + is easy to sleep next to. She even comes with a little star to take care of. The attention to detail for this doll is unbelievable, everything in the book is included on the doll. Both girls loved noticing that. The clincher on this doll though is it looks like she has ballet shoes. That totally won Cami over!

Nana Star and the Moonman is the next inspiring story in the Nana Star Series. Nana Star is ready to bring the lost baby star back home where he belongs, but the world has gone to bed and she feels scared and alone. With help from a new friend, she learns that she is never alone, that the Moonman is always watching over and guiding her, even when she can't see him. With this book you can also get the Moonman Lovey. Made to be loved to pieces, the Moonman lovey glows when Little Twinkles cuddle him and plays a sleepy "luvaby" when they hug his tummy! He's a comforting presence as they drift off to dreamland.

I really thought it was funny when my 10 year insisted on keeping this one. She keeps him on her bed with all her Webkinz.

When the books arrived, after deciding which girl got which plush, they instantly took off to read the books. Alli happily read both books to her little sister. I believe these are the only books that I got her to read completely actually. That is saying something because my oldest hates reading! {I don't know where she comes from?} There is also one error in each book, my girls were really excited trying to find it. There is even a reward if you find it and mail in the info!

Besides the stories being interesting and inspiring, the books are gorgeous. They are larger, measuring about 10" x 8". The books are hardcover & come with a matching book cover. The books have pretty illustrations done by Linda Saker. They also come with a sing-along cd.

I highly recommend these books, would make a wonderful Christmas present! You can buy the books at the Nana Star shop.

Another thing I wanted to mention is the Nana Star Foundation. The foundation is dedicated to two main causes ~ helping make life easier for children attending under-resourced, inner-city schools and for terminally ill children. A portion of all Nana Star product sales goes directly to the Foundation. They also do other charitable works with the books, check out the link for more info or to donate.

If you are interested in viewing the Nana Star videos or listening the music, click here. Make sure to get up to date info on all the happenings by subscribing to the Nana Star newsletter. Each new book will introduce a new character to this fun series.

Back to School Savings Tips

With all the talk about money, thought I'd give some money saving tips for back to school shopping. It can also work for Christmas shopping down the line!

First, go through your kids clothes before shopping. Also check what school supplies you already have on hand. If you don't inventory what you already have on hand, you may be buying more then necessary. I was going through my youngest daughters jeans today & she has 10+ pairs still, definitely do not need a single pair of jeans for her! Also keep in mind that the first month at the very least will still be nice out. You can use the same t-shirts/capris from the spring & summer!

With Green becoming the new in thing, it is actually ok to shop at garage sales and even thrift stores, it is now cool to buy used. Take advantage of this & pick up cheap clothes. A lot of kids, especially girls wear there clothes so little they are like new. Jeans also are usually more comfortable after being broken in! If you do the thrift stores, pay attention to the sales. There is almost always a certain color tag or certain items that are up to half off & some do certain days a month that all clothes are half off. They may even have a website, so look into that.

Craigslist and Freecycle are another great alternative. Craigslist has a free section and a for sale selection. Freecycle you can watch the posts or you can actually ask for what you need. This is a great way to get free to very low cost items. You mainly only need to pay for the gas to pick up the item. With freecycle, make sure to join all the groups within driving distance, not just your city.

One of my favorite ways of picking up clothes is Ebay. You can find brand new and used. I find that lots are the best deal both per item & with shipping charges. Make sure to factor in shipping costs into your bid. Try various combinations for your searches to find the best deals. Also, don't just go by Ebay's best match, you can change it the lowest price/highest price & ending soonest. The best matches isn't always a fair search option and you might miss out on some good deals. With etsy becoming so big, you can probably good deals on hand made things as well!

Shopping online can save both time and money. Before shopping though make sure to look for coupon codes and shop through companies like Ebates and Bigcrumbs. That way you earn a percentage back on your purchase. You can also earn money from referrals, so extra bonus!

When searching for coupon codes, I don't just stick to one site. I find it easier to just google the store I'm looking for. Almost every store has coupon codes. If you see a spot for coupons, then you can almost always find one floating around. I even found coupons godaddy when I renewed my website domains a few months ago!

My last tip for now, get the Sunday Paper. You can usually find at least one local paper at dollar stores and family dollar for $1. The coupons alone will save you more then that, especially if you take advantage of the drugstore game. If you don't use coupons, then check your favorite stores online ads. Whatever stores are in your area, go to those websites & preview ads. You can also do a google search for that stores sales, you will most likely find a blog with the sale info & even match up the coupons for you to save even more.

I recently got tons of school supplies at Staples and I even got free backpacks & tennis shoes at Meijer (huge store with grocery, clothes & everything else, think they are only in 5 states).

I need a laptop!

I have been wanting a laptop for about a year now. I have a desktop that moves pretty slow. My kids are both getting older and wanting to use the computer more and more. Plus Alli is starting middle school and I know she will need to use the computer even more, plus she is starting to chat more with her friends.

When we switched dance studios last year, I found out they had wireless service. With all the hours I spend there, I could do so much with a laptop. I am a stay at home mom that makes all my income on the computer. Between blogging and mainly ebay for money, I really need to be available at ALL times! Especially with the Michigan economy falling apart. I will be totally honest, my husband has worked a full 40 hour week twice this year! The rest is part time or not at all. Every time he starts to get work, it lasts a few days & then off again. We are really struggling and with both girls in school it seems are expanses just keep going up. Plus with gas & my older car, it costs a lot.

A new laptop could really help me out so much. It could take me the next level of earning some money for my family. I have already sacrificed about as much as I can just to keep the girls in decent clothes and dance classes. I just cannot take dance away from them, they love it so much and it does so much good.

I have been trying to save my Amazon gift certificates that I have won or earned, but I am only at $75, LONG way to go. Plus I am pretty sure I will end up breaking and using that to get the girls some christmas presents.

I new laptop wouldn't just help me, it could also be used for Alli when she needs to do school work.

When I read what 5 minutes for mom did for
Tammy, I was SO happy for her. She truly needed a laptop, that is just amazing what Janice and Susan did for her. I know my story isn't truly as deserving, but I could truly use a thoughtful gift like that. I started my family at 19, I had a terrible pregnancy and a rough start with Alli. I made the mistake of dropping out of school and things kind of just happened. I went back to work when Alli was about one at CVS Pharmacy. I worked there 3.5 years and was really move up in the pharmacy department. Then we got the surprise of Cammie and my boss did not take it well. I again had a rough pregnancy, and was just not in shape to fight the company for the way they treated me. I finally ended up quitting in Jan 2001. We were starting to do well, hubs had a good construction job. Then 9-11 happened, and work slowly dropped. Actually not slowly because his last day at his job was Christmas eve that year, the guy went under & he never even got paid for the work he did on Christmas eve.

Things started getting back on track near the end of 02 & through 03. Then in 04, hubby got injured 4 separate times that year, averaging every couple months. He ended up shooting his finger with a nail gun, shooting his toe, falling off a roof & then falling into a pored basement. The toe injurly resulted in an bone infection that needed to be hospitalized for. The finger ended up needing surgery for some kind of cyst a few years later & the 2 falls resulted in ribs moving out of place and major problems.

To make that even worse, his boss never had workman's comp coverage so we have medical bills piled high. Then he got mad that hubby went to hospital for treatment so he fired him & never paid him. We actually won a labor board judgment, but still have not seen a penny of what we are owed.

As you can see, it seems like one thing after another, lol. I try really hard to keep a positive attitude and just keep on plugging along. A new laptop though, would sure open up some doors for me and my oldest daughter :)
