Friday Favorite ~ Scanalog Review + Giveaway

I am a total magazine addict. As a matter of fact, my very first entry on this blog was about my scrapbook magazine addiction, lol. I not only read scrapbook mags, but craft mags, kids craft mags, parenting, women, home decor and more. Other then my newest scrapbook magazines, I always tear out the articles that interest me or that I want to reference later on.

My biggest challenge is organizing it. I've tried binders, files, storing in separate boxes, etc. I just end up with a big cluttered paper mess! In comes Scanalog, I was beyond thrilled when Family Review Network mentioned this review op! I have been thinking about scanning in all my magazine articles, but didn't want the hassle of organizing a system for it.

Scanalog is a CD-ROM software system to store, catalog and retrieve your favorite articles from magazines (and catalogs). The articles can be scanned from the magazine or be saved from the magazine website.

There are eleven 'Master Categories' to save items in Scanalog. They cover a range of women's interest, from Home Decoration to Gardening to My Spirit.

Not only are there 11 master categories, there are also sub categories. The software comes with pre-loaded categories plus you can add your own. Scrapbooking was my first add on and it was so easy to do! Actually so far it is my only add on, everything else I've put into the system has already been there.

Using the Scanalog software is super easy. I didn't even read any kind of directions or anything, I just inserted the cd and immediately started organizing my magazines and catalogs.

You can either retrieve files you already have saved or you scan pages into the software. There are places to add the publication name, article name & date. You can also tag it with whatever you want for easy to searching.

I am in love with Scanalog! You can purchase the Scanalog software directly from their website at http://www.scanalog.com for $49.95. It comes with the CD-ROM software program, a printed SCANALOG User Guide, the SCANTABS label system (to mark and label your articles to be scanned), and a SCANALOG mousepad. Scanalog is available for PCs only and is compatible with all versions of Windows.

I'd use it to get rid of my stack of pages torn from magazines that I want to save for later but never seem to get back to.

I would use Scanalog to keep track of all the articles I find about household tips, DIY projects, and recipes, and then recycle my original paper versions. Sounds like a win win for me, my clutter control endeavor, and the environment :D

I am a papercrafter and I am always tearing pages out of magazines and catalogs to keep for inspiration. Of course, when I get ready to use them, I usually can't find them because they have added themselves to my clutter. I really want to organize my crafting space and this would be a great help.

thanks for sharing

I have a bunch of articles and pics from design magazines about interesting interior design ideas for the house. I'd be happy to get it organized and get rid of a huge paper binder from my kitchen!
