Exergen Temporal Scanner Review & Giveaway

Having kids means you need a good thermometer, especially if you have young kids.  Have you tried taking your babies temp with a regular thermometer?  Or even the cheap digital kind?  It is not fun at all.  I have tried several brands over the 12+ years since my oldest was born.  I even had one of those super expensive (at least when I bought it) ear ones.  Never had the greatest results.  To be honest, I quit using them for awhile. My doctor used to get mad, but it was just too hard to get an accurate reading.
Then to my doctors delight, I was sent an Exergen TemporalScanner infrared thermometer awhile back.  This thing is amazing, I use it ALL the time.  I did a review awhile back, but when I was asked by MamaBuzz to do a review and a giveaway for my readers, I couldn't resist.  I love doing updated reviews, to show my readers when I actually continue to use a product and truly love it.  I know there is a lot of controversy over getting sent a product and then reviewing it.  I wanted to let my readers know, that this is one product my family truly truly loves.  My husband and I both use it on us and our kids.  My mom even asks to use it.  It is quick and easy to use, and I have found it to be accurate as well on the occasions that we visit a doctor the same day of use.  I have had it for awhile now with the same battery ~ it is durable ~ easy to clean as well.  Plus you do not have to buy covers for it like I did with that ear one.  Here is some info from the company ~
The Exergen TemporalScanner infrared thermometer, which reads a temperature in just two seconds, is available at Wal-Mart, Walgreens, Costco, Babies R Us, Toys R Us and Sam’s Clubs nationwide.
It gives parents a comforting option for taking a temperature. Gentle as a healing hand against a child’s face, the Exergen TemporalScanner gauges body temperature in two seconds by capturing the naturally emitted heat from skin over the temporal artery, which runs across the forehead and is directly connected to the heart via the carotid artery.
The affordable Exergen TemporalScanner infrared thermometer is tested six times for accuracy during manufacture at Exergen’s plant outside of Boston and comes with a one year warranty. Tests show it is accurate to within +0.2ºF—a much more accurate reading than taking the temperature any other way including oral, rectal, axillary (under the arm) and tympanic (in the ear).
It’s also easy to use: Simply depress and hold its soft rubber-coated button and lightly scan across the forehead. A red LED light and soft beep indicate a correct scan. Ergonomically designed of injected molded plastic, the home unit features a high-contrast LCD temperature display, runs on one 9-volt battery (included), and meets and exceeds all regulatory requirements, including FDA, ASTM and UL.
The only thermometer manufactured in the United States, the Exergen Temporal Scanner is also better for the environment, using infrared sensor technology so it contains no mercury (like traditional glass bulb thermometers). The Exergen TemporalScanner also never needs any additional purchases, unlike tympanic thermometers, which necessitate clean plastic probe covers with each new use. It has a manufacturer’s suggested retail price of less than $50.
Giveaway time ~ to enter, stop by the company website and tell me a feature you like.

I love how it only takes a second to use and it won't make my kid upset like the ear thermometers do. Plus, with ear thermometers I have to take the temp 3 or 4 times to make sure it's accurate. With this I only need one shot.

I love the fact that you can use it on everyone from little infants to adults and it only takes seconds-and just a quick swipe across the forehead instead of in your mouth, ear, or even down lower than that :( getting a temperature read makes it much more easier with this product. That it is made in the USA and safer for the environment helps too.

I love how easy it is to use. I teach kindergarten. This would be great for my classroom. Checking temps orally is a pain!

I like that Exergen patented the Arterial Heat Balance Method, which can calculate any heat loss (in a normal or cold room) or gain (in a hot room), and instantly computes an accurate body temperature.
