Exergen Temporal Scanner Review & Giveaway

Having kids means you need a good thermometer, especially if you have young kids.  Have you tried taking your babies temp with a regular thermometer?  Or even the cheap digital kind?  It is not fun at all.  I have tried several brands over the 12+ years since my oldest was born.  I even had one of those super expensive (at least when I bought it) ear ones.  Never had the greatest results.  To be honest, I quit using them for awhile. My doctor used to get mad, but it was just too hard to get an accurate reading.
Then to my doctors delight, I was sent an Exergen TemporalScanner infrared thermometer awhile back.  This thing is amazing, I use it ALL the time.  I did a review awhile back, but when I was asked by MamaBuzz to do a review and a giveaway for my readers, I couldn't resist.  I love doing updated reviews, to show my readers when I actually continue to use a product and truly love it.  I know there is a lot of controversy over getting sent a product and then reviewing it.  I wanted to let my readers know, that this is one product my family truly truly loves.  My husband and I both use it on us and our kids.  My mom even asks to use it.  It is quick and easy to use, and I have found it to be accurate as well on the occasions that we visit a doctor the same day of use.  I have had it for awhile now with the same battery ~ it is durable ~ easy to clean as well.  Plus you do not have to buy covers for it like I did with that ear one.  Here is some info from the company ~
The Exergen TemporalScanner infrared thermometer, which reads a temperature in just two seconds, is available at Wal-Mart, Walgreens, Costco, Babies R Us, Toys R Us and Sam’s Clubs nationwide.
It gives parents a comforting option for taking a temperature. Gentle as a healing hand against a child’s face, the Exergen TemporalScanner gauges body temperature in two seconds by capturing the naturally emitted heat from skin over the temporal artery, which runs across the forehead and is directly connected to the heart via the carotid artery.
The affordable Exergen TemporalScanner infrared thermometer is tested six times for accuracy during manufacture at Exergen’s plant outside of Boston and comes with a one year warranty. Tests show it is accurate to within +0.2ºF—a much more accurate reading than taking the temperature any other way including oral, rectal, axillary (under the arm) and tympanic (in the ear).
It’s also easy to use: Simply depress and hold its soft rubber-coated button and lightly scan across the forehead. A red LED light and soft beep indicate a correct scan. Ergonomically designed of injected molded plastic, the home unit features a high-contrast LCD temperature display, runs on one 9-volt battery (included), and meets and exceeds all regulatory requirements, including FDA, ASTM and UL.
The only thermometer manufactured in the United States, the Exergen Temporal Scanner is also better for the environment, using infrared sensor technology so it contains no mercury (like traditional glass bulb thermometers). The Exergen TemporalScanner also never needs any additional purchases, unlike tympanic thermometers, which necessitate clean plastic probe covers with each new use. It has a manufacturer’s suggested retail price of less than $50.

Even more new Entrees from Healthy Choice

Healthy Choice LogoImage via Wikipedia
I'm not a cook, so the frozen food aisle is one of my favorite aisles to shop at!  Frozen dinners have luckily come a long way. They are now pretty tasty & starting to get healthier.

Healthy Choice dinners are one of those.  They are continually improving the quality of their dinners.  One downfall to not cooking, you lose that healthy fresh food.  On the busy days when my hubby can't cook, I need an alternative that I can prepare that is still healthy.

Last month, Healthy Choice introduced 11 new entrées to its Café Steamers, All Natural Entrées, and Select Entrées product lines. Nutrient-rich and preservative-free, the new entrées provide even more options for those busy days when you don't have time to prepare a meal from scratch but still want something that's delicious AND good for you.

In a time crunch but still want to eat healthy? Try one of the new Healthy Choice Mediterranean Inspired Café Steamers. With varieties like Grilled Vegetables Mediterranean, Balsamic Garlic Chicken and Lemon Garlic Chicken & Shrimp  I love the fact that Healthy Choice is the only major brand in its category FDA-approved to call its products "healthy." This means each meal must have low fat, low saturated fat, controlled sodium and 10% of the daily value of three beneficial nutrients. For more information about these new entrées, visit www.HealthyChoice.com.

I was sent two of the new Healthy Choice dinners to review. I've actually already tried several of them because I already purchase this brand.  I really like them a lot.  They are easy to make.  I love the steamer bowl.  It makes the food taste fresh, you don't get that freezer burn type taste like you do with traditional tv dinners.  My husband and kids always eat the Healthy Choice dinners as soon as I buy them.

Another thing I really like about the Healthy Choice dinners is that they are affordable!  The grocery stores are always running sales, you can't beat the prices.  Of course, if you can cook fresh, I recommend that.  If you want some dinners on hand for those hectic days, Healthy Choice is my top choice!

I wrote this review while participating in a blog campaign by Mom Central on behalf of Healthy Choice and received a sample to facilitate my candid review. Mom Central sent me a gift card to thank me for taking the time to participate
