I've talked a lot about the spheres, contests, games and main page. There is so much more though.
Did you know your child can blog. I love that, what a great way to get them writing! Plus it is private, only kids under 18 can see it. It isn't totally public the way that I blog. My girls are pretty sporadic in writing in a journal, but typing on a keyboard, much more doable!
I've also mentioned the games. There is an entire virtual world, OurWorld on Yoursphere. OurWorld allows members to create an avatar, a house, within their virtual life. They can also interact and play games to get points (level up and earn flow). With points members can customize their character’s clothing and house. Hang out in the lobby and chat with other characters (members).
My girls both love this part the most. They love making their condo and avatar. Your earn gems by playing games and working. Jobs include working in a coffee shop, diner, bakery and more. I love that lit bit of responsibly, even if it is virtual. Then the kids can buy things like clothing, get hair done, fix up their condo, etc. If you have ever seen Second Life, Ourworld is very similar to it. The avatar can walk all around the "world" and it is very realistic. I'm actually very impressed with the quality of the game.
Along with games, there are also quests that you can go on. This is something my 8 year old absolutely loves! She is always talking about going quests on various online games, so I'm thrilled that they have them on Yoursphere as well!
If your child also has a facebook like both of mine do, you can connect the accounts together to get a boost in flow. The kids also get a referral code to give to friends. For every friend they refer, they get a gem to use. Connecting is very easy, just a click of the button approving the connection.
Yoursphere is a free, safe, and monitored social networking site for children under the age of 18. Please join by using the code YSMC-0041 when you join.
I wrote this review while participating in the Yoursphere Test Drive program by Mom Central on behalf of Yoursphere. I received a free lifetime Gold membership on Yoursphere.com, Yoursphere t-shirts, and a $50 American Express gift card to facilitate my review.
