Booking through Thursday

Today’s question comes from Conspiracy-Girl:
I’m still relatively new to this meme so I’m not sure if this has been asked yet, but I’m curious how many of us write notes in our books. Are you a Footprint Leaver or a Preservationist?

I don't write in my books, I am a total Preservationist. The only time I have written in a book is when I bought textbooks for school :)

Holiday Traditions

We are a really small family & honestly don't have any major traditions. For Thanksgiving we usually spend it with my parents & brother. Sometimes we just have dinner ourselves & other times we visit either mine or my husbands grandma.

We have basic foods like Turkey, Roast Potatoes, Bread stuffing, Gravy, Mashed Potatoes, Salad, Usually an Applie Pie and/or Pumpkin pie along with a Silk Chocolate pie.

I am the difficult one I eat the roast potatoes, the salad & the Silk chocolate pie :)

We just don't do anything major, I honestly don't care much for Thanksgiving. I do like to take lots of pictures & scrap what I am thankful for though. I always have intentions of doing all of these fun projects with the kids & talking about being thankful, but I just never seem to do it.

For Christmas, we celebrate it as a time with a family & the Winter solstice. Our normal tradition was to visit my Grandma on New Years eve to open presents & have dinner. In the evening I like to give the kids a present which is pjs to wear to bed. On Christmas everyone gets up early & opens presents. Then we like a nice breakfast. Then we usually have dinner with my parents.

The celebrations used to be larger, but we barely have any family left, so Christmas has lots of down time now. Which I do enjoy because it can get so stressful.

Christmas dinner is usually similar to Thanksgiving but we add a Roast or Ham, etc.

We usually try to put up our tree the weekend after Thanksgiving. When I was little, we always took our tree down on the 6th of January which is 12 days after Christmas. We stick to that some years & others depends on what is going on.

During December we usually do crafts, I like the kids to make something little for family members, etc.

I used to do cards by the 1st of December, but I barely send them out anymore. I also get pics of the girls in their fancy dresses sometime end of November beginning of December.

That is about it, at least what I can think of at the moment :)

Arriving at Tremaine

Waiting for first class to start which is Jazz.
In front of the big Tremaine poster at the hotel.

Monday, November 12, 2007

We left a little later then planned on Saturday but we arrived with plenty of time. The classes started at 8:30. We got our schedule about 15 minutes before that. They offered lots of jazz. There were 3 classes each day in Jazz & 1 each day in Tap. Plus on Saturday they had Hip/Hop & then Ballet.

It was a very long day. It was hard because no food was offered, no drinks, etc. We weren't able to get our hotel until after 3pm & when we got into the hotel there was no fridge, no microwave. For the Hyatt it sucked to be honest. Yes it was very nice, but they offer you no nothing for the outrageous prices!

Aly enjoyed the classes. She didn't take the tap one either day. Her favorite was Hip/Hop. The girls enjoyed the male teacher, the girls all thought he was cute :) Plus he taught real hip hop with all the sound effects, etc. She has an awesome hip-hop teacher but she teaches like a dance teacher. It was fun seeing it a different way.

On Saturday they also held the competition. We weren't competing at this one, so we went to watch. We didn't stay through the entire thing, the girls were tired. I really wanted to watch it all & see the awards, but oh well.

Some cute numbers, some very trashy numbers, oh my! I couldn't believe how many little 7 - 10 year olds wore those tiny tops & booty shorts. Of course, mine was mad at me for not letting her. Most of the competition numbers wore little bikini outfits. Couldn't tell if they had on costumes or lingerie. I expect that with the older ones, but was surprised at the girls under 10 like that.

All in all the girls really enjoyed themselves & are talking about going back next year :)

See some pictures here & here.
