Super Savings Saturday

I only ran to Walgreen's this week. I finally got my February rebates card, so I took advantage of the March freebies. I picked up the above items. That is all they had in stock for the freebies. The head & shoulders is a $4 rebate off 2 + I had the $1 coupon off conditioner if you bought the Shampoo. My daughter has a super dry scalp & needs this. I can't remember what it came too but I still have money left on my gift card :)
Above is the pic from the deals from CVS last week that I explained here.

More Super Savings Saturday's here.

Review coming soon ~ Supermom's Simple Guide to Healthier Eating for Beginners and Beyond

Erica from Supermom's Health & Wellness gave me the chance to review one of her two fab ebooks. I was given the choice between Supermom's Simple Guide to Healthier Eating for Beginners and Beyond and Supermom's Simple Guide to Super Salads. I choice the one on Healthier eating. My review will be up sometime in the next few days.

I also won her Supermom's No-Lice Hair and Body Spray during the most recent big bloggy giveaway. It isn't really lice season right now at our school, so I will have to post a better review during the next school year. I'm excited about this preventive spray though because my youngest daughter has very long hair (to her butt) & I am always afraid of lice. I can say though, that it smells awesome! The spray has a great peppermint scent and it has no chemicals, colorings, additives, or preservatives.

I was just looking at her website, and I guess this works as a great dog spray for fleas. Very cool & seriously it smells good. Even my kids liked the smell!

Goofy Spring Break, Easter eggs

Well today is usually the start of spring break for kids. Our school is being goofy this year. The girls have today & Monday off. Then they go back Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday. Friday is either a half day or no school, can't recall. Then they have all of the following week off. Crazy huh!

Can you believe it is Easter this weekend? I am so not ready. We are going to die eggs tomorrow. Eggs have gotten expensive. I ended up buying a 2.5 dozen of Medium eggs at Kroger. A dozen usually go so quick with each of them, I figured the extra half dozen would at least be a bit more.

We usually end up giving a bunch to my dad to make deviled eggs. This year Cam asked my dad if he was going to make those egg things. He was like, Deviled eggs? She said: Yes, Don't. She doesn't want her eggs taken, told him to use white eggs. We sat there trying to explain to her that he makes them so they don't go to waste, etc. Finally Aly just said, Cam he can have mine dont' worry. She is so upset over the thought of HER eggs being taken. Should be a fun Easter.

I haven't even boiled eggs yet, have to look up how. Every year somehow I forget. I will need to post here how to boil them for reference next year, lol.

Happy Spring Equinox

The Spring Equinox is associated with, or known as: Alban Eilir, Eostar, Eostre, Feast of Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Festival of Trees, Lady Day, NawRuz, No Ruz, Ostara, Ostra, Rites of Spring, and the Vernal Equinox.

horizontal rule

The spring equinox:

There are two days each year when the daytime and nighttime hours are approximately equal -- each being 12 hours long. One occurs between March 19 and 21 and is called the Spring or Vernal Equinox. The other happens in September. These dates have strong ties to religious celebrations, both ancient and modern.

Non-religious beliefs related to the equinox

Overview, timing, & history

Eostre (pronounced E-ostra)

Eostre is the Pagan holiday that celebrates the return of spring and the balance between light and dark on, or around, the Spring Equinox. Eostre was the Pagan goddess of dawn, fertility and new beginnings. The Christian celebration of Christ's rebirth, Easter, is also celebrated around this time and got its name from Eostre.

It has been said that on the exact hour that winter turns to spring (around noon on the Spring Equinox), you are able to stand on an egg that is end-on-end without breaking it. Think that's crazy? Truth is, if you've got the balance and a flat enough surface, you can stand on an egg (end-on-end) any time of the year (just don't be surprised if it doesn't work the first time)!

Did U Know?

  • Eostre gave a rabbit friend the power to lay eggs once a year - on the Spring Equinox. The eggs symbolized new beginnings and the rabbit symbolized fertility.
  • In modern Russia, eggs are still given as presents on the graves of ancestors in spring, at the start of farming season.
  • Today we all look to the good ol' Easter Bunny to bring us colored eggs and, more importantly, chocolate ones

IRS Economic Stimulus Check, When will it come?

Last week, I received a letter from the IRS. At first I panicked, that is a scary feeling seeing something from them, lol. Luckily though, it was about the Economic Stimulus Check.

We should be getting $1800 back, we filed joint so that is $1200 + $300 per kid (x2)

If everything goes right, we are hoping to use it towards getting me a newer car. I have been driving the car that we bought when we got married in 1997 to save money & help pay off debts. We've done so much work to it, including replacing the engine. I just don't think it has much life in it. Plus if you remember, I got in accident a few months ago. The front end is all banged up. Plus the driver window has been broken for a couple years. That is always fun. Oh & my heat barely works, and I haven't had air in YEARS! Not that I'd use it with gas being $3.299 right now

Anyhoo, the point of my post ~ I found a great chart from the IRS that explains when you will receive your check. In the letter I received last week, it said starting May & that we would get another letter when the time got closer. I like this chart much better :)

Ty 2.0 Virtual Hampster um guinea pig

So, the tricky little leprechaun left the girls each Ty Beanie Babies 2.0 Fluffball the guinea pig for St Patrick's day. We were really busy yesterday, so they entered them into the computer today. My 6 year old went first. We go to & enter it in. Once registered, they show the guinea pig just like it looks in real life. Then this lightning bolt comes & hits the guinea pig. Then you see it being struck by lightning in a cloud of smoke. Then you see this growling, snarling guinea pig. By this time my daughter is screaming, what is happening to furball? (that is her nickname, lol). She is practically in tears, looking totally shocked. This goes on for a bit more & then you see Fluffball turned into a virtual guinea pig. Then a stalk starts to grow because they live in a bean land. OMG it was crazy.

Then when my 10 year old went to do hers, I made sure hubby watched. At this point we are laughing. My 6 year old was still freaked out watching the same thing happen to her sisters. After it was all over, even hubby was like that was a bit much for kids.

I wonder what they were thinking doing that, lol. Must not realize how kids feel about there stuffed pets & virtual friends.

We had conferences today & dance, so didn't get to play around to much. Will have to check it out a bit more tomorrow. Cam played awhile on it while we were at dance, but never had a chance to ask her what she thought of their newest virtual pets.

When I saw Ty had what I thought was a hamster, I had to buy it. Both kids have been driving me nuts for hamsters & I do not want them. They are a mess & I had a bad experience with hamsters.

When my husband & I were dating, I had the bright idea to get a boy & girl hamster to share as a pet. I was still in high school at the time. I think the original mom & dad lived with hubby. They quickly, and I mean quickly had babies. Then they had more babies. We gave away so many hamsters I lost count. I ended up with 6 babies at my house. One day, I woke up. I casually strolled over to check on my hamsters & noticed there was only 5. Then I noticed a big pink lump of muscle? body? whatever. All I know is all the fur was gone, the head was gone, the hands & feet were gone, even the little tail was gone. Just a big pink lump laid there. I freaked out & went screaming out of bed room. Wouldn't return till my dad came & took the hamsters. I refused to let them back in. I ended up giving the remaining 5 away. That was about 12 years ago & still have that image in my head. It was so so awful, ugh!!!
