Blog Carnival: Review Bloggers 18th Edition

Run over & check out the Blog Carnival: Review Bloggers 18th Edition over at The Full House.

Organize It ~ Blogs & Websites

I've always been interested in reading articles, websites, blogs, magazines, etc about being/getting Organized. Probably because I hate throwing things out & desperately need to work on my organizing skills. One problem I tend to have is: I'm a perfectionist. This causes me to not end up doing anything because it doesn't seem perfect to me. Big pain in the butt, but I'm working on it :)

Thought I'd share some of my favorite sites to read about Getting Organized and Conquering Clutter.

Fabulous Father Friday

Notes from my Nest has recently started a new feature called ~ Fabulous Father Friday.

It is a chance to tell your husband or your father what he has done right. Click on the banner to read the rules & to participate.

I would like to say that my husband is very good with our girls. He will play with them, he will encourage them, he teaches them many things, he is even willing to talk about girly things with them. To be honest, I am a very shy person, and I have a hard time talking about sensitive issues with my daughters. My oldest actually goes to my husband with questions, which makes me so happy on many levels. That was especially helpful during the "health" classes that are given to all 4th & 5th grade girls :) So, I want to thank him for that.

I found this very fascinating. A fossil was found showing a snake with legs.
A fossil animal locked in Lebanese limestone has been shown to be an extremely precious discovery - a snake with two legs. Scientists have only a handful of specimens that illustrate the evolutionary narrative that goes from ancient lizard to limbless modern serpent.

May 1st is RSS Awareness Day

Did you know May 1st is RSS Awareness day?

The objective of the RSS Awareness Day is to get as many people as possible talking about RSS and its benefits on May 1st. Bloggers and blog readers are already aware of the RSS format, but if enough of them talk about it perhaps the mainstream media will cover it as well, and the general public will get exposed to it.

If people start reading about RSS and how it can help them everywhere, I am sure that some will get curious at least to try it out. Over the time the usage of the format should pick up, and all the Internet users (including content publishers) gain from it.

Daily Blog Tips is encouraging everyone to ensure they have their RSS feeds working and displayed prominently on their site. On May 1st they are asking everyone to discuss the importance of RSS feeds. This Daily Blog Tips article, May 1st RSS Awareness Day: Get Involved, explains exactly what they're trying to do and how you can help. You can even win prizes :)

I use RSS, you can subscribe to my blog here.

Review: Kid Save Software

I was lucky enough to win the Kid Save Software
from 5 minutes for mom awhile back.

This software makes teaching kids about money management even easier. You download the program to your computer. It is set up to look like a bank account. You can set up automatic allowances, which is my favorite feature. You can also add interest & gifts.

KidsSave is a kids' savings and money management software program designed for ages 6 and up. KidsSave helps you and your child keep track of money, encourages saving through Reward incentives, and helps your child set and track goals. With KidsSave, kids can make deposits and withdrawals, receive automated allowances and Rewards (interest and/or matching funds), count money, and view their statement history over time.

The KidsSave program handles all Account management automatically so once the Account(s) has been set up, the Banker (typically the parent) has little to do. Unique features allow the Banker to have access to all Accounts, define interest, allowance, and/or matching funds, enable savings locks and require confirmations of all transactions.

There is a great goal section that both my girls love. it is really fun tracking the goal, seeing the chart. It even gives a break down to the day of when your goal will be met at the rate you are going. It is really cool.

The statements look like the bank, so the kids can see the deposits and withdrawals. Another thing I like is that, you can hold unto the money without taking away some of the learning process.

My daughters are 6 and 10, and they both love the program.

You can download a free 35 day trial of this program from the Kidnexions home page to try before you buy.

Weekend Snapshot ~ Tornado Scare

On Friday we had a Tornado Scare. I don't think we have ever heard the sirens going off, so it freaked out the kids when they did. We didn't even end up getting that bad of weather {luckily}. Not looking forward to the tornado season with my 6 year old. She was a mess all night & even brought it up Saturday & Sunday. "Why did that tornado have to ruin my Friday?"

I've been wanting to make an Emergency Kit for awhile now & realize that I need too. I couldn't find any of my flashlights or anything. Luckily I had the Radio thing with a flashlight that I got fro free from out & was able to get to it. Cam wouldn't let go of it the entire evening.

Win a VIP pet from Opionated Parent
