Giveaway ~ Chicken Soup for the Soul Chicken Soup for the Soul

The ever popular Chicken Soup for the Soul books are honoring moms for Mother's Day right now.

Chicken Soup for the Soul: Like Mother, Like Daughter: Stories about the Special Bond between Mothers and Daughters and Chicken Soup for the Mother and Son Soul: Stories to Celebrate the Lifelong Bond

In honor of moms everywhere, both titles are now available at Target for a special discounted price until Mother's Day on May 10. Both seek to honor moms, as they offer heartwarming, hilarious tales from moms and their loved ones. If you don't have a Target or can't get to one, they are very reasonably priced on Amazon as well!

1. "Chicken Soup for the Soul: Like Mother, Like Daughter" (September 2008 $14.95)

There is a special bond between a mother and her daughter that, in the vast scope of human relationships, is unparalleled. Sometimes fragile and tenuous but at once as enduring as the Rockies, it is a relationship that is neither static nor shallow. It is evolving and forever—a deep and eternal wellspring. In her daughter, a mother sees her hopes and expectations; fulfillment, perhaps, of her dreams and a journey down the road not taken. From her first breath, a daughter opens new vistas for her mother to reach beyond herself. In her mother, a daughter sees her foundation; her history and the lives of all those women who came before her. She sees herself and understands what it means to be a woman.

From borrowed outfits to goofy mannerisms, there is a time when most women must sheepishly admit, "I'm turning into my mother." But while our uncanny connections can draw us closer, sometimes these similarities can drive us up the wall. To help your readers navigate to complexities of their mother-daughter relationships, "Chicken Soup for the Soul: Like Mother, Like Daughter," (Chicken Soup for the Soul, September 30, 2008, 978-1935096-07-8, $14.95) provides a collection of stories written by moms and daughters on maternal wisdom, raising teenage girls, becoming friends with Mom, grandmothers, granddaughters, and more.

2. "Chicken Soup for the Soul: Moms & Sons" (September 2008 $14.95)

As numerous mothers know, raising boys can be an adventure. From baby blue blankets to first wedding dances, sons provide their mothers immeasurable amounts of joy - not to mention bruised knees to clean, rambunctious friends, and good-natured teasing. Written for mothers and "mama's boys" everywhere, "Chicken Soup for the Soul: Moms and Sons" (Chicken Soup for the Soul Publishing, LLC., 978-1-935096-16-0, September 2008, $14.95) offer glimpses into the touching - and often funny - interactions between mothers and their boys, as grateful sons, single moms, and loving grandmothers all chime in to add their voices to this new collection.

I have two copies of Chicken Soup for the Soul: Like Mother, Like Daughter: Stories about the Special Bond between Mothers and Daughters to giveaway. To enter tell me something you love about being a mom or something you love about your mom!

Review ~ Kitchen Witch (Accidental Witch Trilogy, Book 1)

I was browsing around Book Swim and came across The Kitchen Witch (Accidental Witch Trilogy, Book 1). I love stories about witches, so I thought I'd give it a try.

It wasn't what I thought it would be, but the book wasn't bad. It is isn't really about a witch, but more a Romance. If you enjoy chick lit, lightweight Romance, etc it is a cute story.

Single dad and television producer Logan Kilgarven finds his life turned upside down when his quirky new neighbor, Melody Seabright, who is rumored to be a witch, gets a job at his TV station, where she wreaks havoc on the set and on his heart.

Review ~ Always Infinity

I will be honest, I quit using pads in middle school and never looked back. I now use the diva cup. However my tween just started her period and only feels comfortable wearing pads. When I did use them, Always was my favorite brand. I was excited to get the chance to test out the brand new Always Infinity pad (well for my tween too).

Product Features/Highlights

Incredibly Soft Cover Sheet — It's designed to work with the pad's Infinicel core to help you feel dry.

Microdots™ for Fast Absorption — At the center of each pad you'll find Microdots™ engineered to help quickly guide fluid deep inside and away from you.

Revolutionary Wing Design for Secure Protection — Super flexible wings hug the curvature of your panty and provide optimal coverage at your panty's sides.

Form-Fitting Channels for Great Leakage Protection — Our form-fitting channels move with your body for an intimate three-dimensional body fit and great leakage protection.

Designed to be Wider in the Back — Providing increased coverage where you need it most.

My daughter just tried them and said she really liked them. I did take a peek at one and they seem very nice. They have a nicer top layer then I remember and a great shape to them.

You can try a sample of the new Always Infinity yourself, just click here.

Thanks to the Family Review Network for this Review.

Review ~ Ragu

With busy schedules, getting dinner ready quick is important. It is also important to give the kids a healthy meal!

Luckily for me, my girls love spaghetti sauce! You can make a ton of different meals and you are getting a nutritious meal. Did you know that Ragu has a full serving a veggies in there sauces? I didn't know that before. Now I feel even better about serving meals with Ragu.

We tried the Hearty Baked Rigatoni meal that is on the Ragu website and it was a huge hit! My girls and my husband loved the new Sweet Tomato Basil flavor that Ragu just came out with. We plan on trying the Upside Pizza next, yum!

Mom Central has recently teamed up with Food Network's Robin Miller and Registered Dietician Sylvia Klinger to offer moms nutritional, parenting and time-management tips available on In keeping with the RagĂș tradition of a dedication to helping Moms feed our kids well, these helpful tips, healthy meal options and recipes are designed to make meal planning easier.

Do you have a recipe that you love that involves using spaghetti sauce? I'd love for you to share it! If you haven't used Ragu lately, give them a try.

My husband is super snobby about sauces, I honestly didn't think he'd even help me out with testing Ragu. With using the recipes though, he know loves it. He said he will never buy the expansive stuff again. Ragu costs under $2 and he can add what he wants to it. He said he can't believe he didn't switch years ago. Yeah Ragu, for helping me keep my budget down :)

Finding a Place for Kids to Play ~ KaBOOM

We live in a beautiful little area, I grew up here ~ know it well. One downside, you have to drive to all of the parks in the area. It makes it really hard, especially when gas prices get so high in the summer. When we lived closer to Detroit, we had several parks within walking distance, and we loved it! Regardless though, we do have some nice parks and an awesome {free} beach! Finding parks can be difficult, especially if you are in a new area.

KaBOOM!, a non-profit organization dedicated to finding and creating play spaces within walking distance for every child, has embarked on a nationwide mission to help communities build playspaces. Mom Central has teamed up with KaBOOM! to help map 100,000 playspaces in 100 days.

Here's what counts as a playspace: a playground, field, a skate park, roller hockey rink, lake, dog park, community center, basketball court or ice rink - any place where kids can engage in unstructured play for free or a nominal fee.

A playspace listing on KaBOOM! consists of an address or cross street and a description, one photo and one rating. KaBOOM! has made creating this playspace listing easy: either a quick fill-in on their website or even easier - a twitpic from your cellphone. So next time you go to the park, just take a quick photo and then upload and enter it on their website.

For every play space entered into the KaBOOM! database on behalf of the Mom Central team, $1 will be donated to Jumpstart, a non-profit that brings at-risk preschool children and caring adults together to improve literacy. And there are even some great giveaways of books and Kindles for posting playspaces near you as well. Everybody wins!

If you are looking for a playscape for yourself, you can search here. If you have children, please take a moment to check out KaBOOM. It is a great resource. When typing in my zip codes, I didn't find any of the parks I go to. I will have to spend some time this week snapping pictures and adding our area playscapes.
